Actor David Corenswet has been chosen to portray the iconic role of Superman in James Gunn's revamped DC Universe. The highly anticipated film, titled Superman: Legacy, will also feature Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. After an extensive audition process involving top actors, Corenswet stood out with his impressive talent and uncanny resemblance to the previous Superman, Henry Cavill. The announcement of Corenswet's casting came from DC Universe on June 27, generating excitement among fans.

Born in Philadelphia in 1993, Corenswet hails from a background in stage acting and graduated from the renowned Juilliard acting institute in 2016. He began his career with short films and went on to secure episodic roles in popular TV shows like Elementary and House of Cards. Corenswet gained recognition for his performances in the Netflix series The Politician and the show Hollywood. He has also appeared in minor roles in films such as Look Both Ways and Pearl.

Rachel Brosnahan, known for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, landed the role of Lois Lane after an impressive audition. The decision was driven by the upcoming SAG-AFTRA strike, prompting the studio to swiftly finalize the lead pair. As a result, David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan will skip the San Diego Comic-Con, adhering to the strike guidelines prohibiting project promotion. The casting reflects the studio's urgency to assemble the cast before potential industry disruptions.

Fans have expressed their anticipation for Corenswet's portrayal of Superman, with many noting his resemblance to Henry Cavill. The film Superman: Legacy will mark Corenswet's debut as the Man of Steel and will be directed by James Gunn himself. Set to release on July 21, 2023, the film promises to offer a fresh and exciting take on the beloved superhero character.
