Bollywood actor and newly elected BJP MP from Himachal Pradesh's Mandi, Kangana Ranaut, has alleged that she was slapped by a CISF security official at Chandigarh Airport on Thursday. The incident has sparked a political row, with accusations of extremism in Punjab and calls for stringent action against the accused officer.

According to Ranaut, the altercation occurred after she had cleared security and was proceeding to the boarding gate. She claims that CISF constable Kulwinder Kaur, stationed at the frisking area, began arguing with her and ultimately slapped her.

Sources suggest that the alleged assault stemmed from Ranaut's controversial remarks about women in Punjab during the farmers' agitation. This speculation remains unconfirmed.

In a video message posted on X, Ranaut stated that the constable had admitted to supporting the farmers' protest and said, "My concern is how to handle this shocking rise in terror and violence in Punjab."

Another video purportedly from the airport captures the constable stating that her mother was among the protesters when Ranaut made her controversial remarks.

Following the incident, Kulwinder Kaur was immediately suspended and an FIR was filed against her. A probe panel has been set up to investigate Ranaut's claims.

After arriving in Delhi, Ranaut met with CISF Director General Nina Singh and other senior officials to explain the incident.

The incident has drawn condemnation from various political leaders. Congress leader and Ranaut's election rival, Vikramaditya Singh, called the incident "unfortunate" and condemned the assault.

"I don't have the entire information about the incident. I have heard in the news that Kangana has been physically assaulted. It is very unfortunate. Such incidents should not happen, especially with women. We strongly condemn this," Singh stated.

Ranaut's victory in the Mandi Lok Sabha constituency, defeating Vikramaditya Singh by a margin of 74,755 votes, has made her the fourth woman to be elected to Lok Sabha from Himachal Pradesh and the first woman who is not from an erstwhile royal family.
