On Wednesday, a five-day-old baby was found abandoned in front of a house near Snehatheeram, a charitable society at Kollam. The infant was carefully wrapped in a cloth and abandoned at around 1 a.m. The members in the house were the first to see the baby. They woke up hearing the cries of the baby and soon informed Snehatheeram director, Sister Roselin. It was the Sister who informed the police about the incident.
After checking the CCTV visuals, the Police found that it was a man who had abandoned the baby. The Police said that the man waited near the baby for some time to ensure that no street dogs attacked the baby.
The five-day-old child is currently in Punalur Taluk hospital. After getting the orders from the Child Welfare Committee, the baby will be handed over to Sneehatheeram. As the baby arrived on Maundy Thursday, Sister Roselin described the infant as an "angel baby".
