There are certain apps where media files can be viewed only temporarily. If everything goes well, WhatsApp will introduce a similar feature soon. It will be optional for the sender.

Named as Expiring Media, the feature will enable media files (read images, videos, and GIFs) to be sent on a temporary basis. Once the recipient leaves the message after seeing it, the media file will disappear automatically.

"The new feature is yet to be a part of WhatsApp beta releases," a report says.

WhatsApp will support a user-friendly feature that flags temporary media files with a timer icon so that the recipient is alerted about the expiry time of the shared files.

The new feature is in development for Android users for now. Later on, iPhone users, too, will get the feature.
