The Supreme Court partially reinstated President Trump`s travel ban, following which new visa criteria have been issued for applicants from six Muslim nations and all refugees.

According to the new guidelines that are being finalised, applicants must now prove a close` or immediate relationship with a US entity – proved with a job offer or invitation to lecture in the US, for instance – or resident – parent, spouse, child, sibling, daughter-in-law or son-in-law – to obtain a visa.

Extended family members such as grandparents, grandchildren and other relationships will not be considered.
