New role for Karthik

Less than a couple of weeks of taking a plunge in politics and joining the All India Forward Bloc, actor Karthik managed to bag the plump post in the party.

He was elected unanimously as the state chairman of the party.

Sounding a perfect politician, Karthik said, ' I am elated to head the party which was started by stalwarts like Subash Chandra Bose and people like Muthuramalinga Thevar'.

‘My first priority would be to plead with the Union government to declare 23 January (birthday of Subash Chandra Bose) as national holiday.

Will he say bye to films then? 'No' says the actor. 'I am here because of films. So both are like my two eyes', he says.

Karthik is currently acting in a negative role in Sivalingam IPS, a remake of Malayalam hit Bharathchandran IPS.
