Police have identified the family of four discovered dead in a New Jersey home, in what is believed to be a murder-suicide by the adult male. Young children were 2 among the victims.
The grim discovery occurred at a residence on Titus Lane in Plainsboro, around 4:40 p.m. on Wednesday, following a welfare check request made by a relative.
The family was identified on Thursday as Tej Pratap Singh, 43, and Sonal Parihar, 42, a married couple, along with their two children, a 10-year-old boy and a 6-year-old girl, according to News 12 New Jersey.
Sources in law enforcement have indicated that authorities suspect the adult male killed his wife and children before taking his own life. Autopsies were scheduled for Thursday.
Shocked family members shared with CBS New York that the couple, both employed in IT, appeared content, and the husband had been an active member of the community, participating in the PTA at his children's schools.
A neighbor in Plainsboro Township mentioned, "We used to see them, a happy family with kids around. The kids were always out playing happily."
In a letter addressed to parents, West Windsor-Plainsboro Regional School District Superintendent David Aderhold conveyed information about the tragic incident involving a Plainsboro family with students at Wicoff Elementary and Millstone River School. Aderhold added that, as the investigation is ongoing, no further details could be provided.
Mayor Peter Cantu expressed his condolences, describing the event as "beyond comprehension" and a "heartbreaking loss of life."
Authorities are conducting an investigation but have not identified any ongoing threat to the community. Anyone with information related to the case is encouraged to contact Plainsboro police.
