A 39-year-old man was arrested after he bludgeoned his 35-year-old live-in partner to death as she refused to share her phone password with him.
The incident has been reported from New Delhi's Vinod Nagar where the man found his partner talking to someone on the phone and demanded to know her phone password. When she refused to reveal the details, he attacked her with a hammer until she bled to death. The victim's 17-year-old son, upon his return to the house, reportedly found his mother lying on the floor with her head smashed in and a hammer placed next to her. When he informed the police regarding this, they suspected that the victim's boyfriend, identified as Brahmpal Singh, was behind her death as he was absconding. After receiving a tip-off regarding his location from a local, the police nabbed the accused from near the Akshardham Mandir. "About two years ago, she met Singh who is a married man with three children. He has worked odd jobs, but primarily earned his living by renting out his building in East Delhi's Khichripur. They entered in a relationship soon after they met, and two months ago, they began living together in a two-bedroom rented flat in West Vinod Nagar. Of late, Sharma wanted to end their relationship due to the constant bickering by Singh's wife and his family," an investigating official reportedly stated.
A case was registered against the man under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. The man confessed to his crimes during interrogation, following which he was remanded in judicial custody.
