An arrest of a 25-year-old Rajasthani man resulted from Mumbai Police opening a new investigation into the shooting outside Salman Khan's home in April. The offender, identified as Bundi resident Banwarilal Laturlal Gujar, was taken to Mumbai and placed in police custody until June 18.

The arrest comes after Gujar made claims in a video posted on his YouTube account that he was connected to Lawrence Bishnoi, Goldy Brar, and their cronies and threatened Salman Khan's life.

Reportedly shot on a Rajasthan highway, the footage led Mumbai Police to send a team to look into it and eventually apprehend Gujar. Under pertinent provisions of the IPC and IT Act, the case has been filed at a Mumbai cyber police station. An officer said, We are investigating Gujar's criminal history while proceeding with charges under IPC section 506(2) for criminal intimidation.

Two motorcyclists had fired bullets outside Salman Khan's Bandra home earlier in April. Six people were first arrested in connection to the incident, with terrible results for one of them, Anuj Thapan, who allegedly killed himself in police custody in May.

Separately, five people had been detained by Navi Mumbai Police for allegedly planning an attack on Salman Khan, one of them a suspected member of the Bishnoi and Brar gangs from Haryana.

According to investigations, gang members had watched Khan's homes and filming sites. The case involves Lawrence Bishnoi, who is incarcerated at Ahmedabad's Sabarmati Central Prison; measures are being taken to have him in custody so that he may be questioned further.

Lawrence's brother Anmol Bishnoi is supposedly living in Canada, which gives the continuing inquiry a global perspective.
