Never expected this success: Parasuram

High on the success of 'Geetha Govindam', director Parasuram says that the scale of the hit was never expected. In a free-wheeling chat, he talks about the film, his next project and more.
From small to big
It started as a small film two years ago. And eventually, it has become a big hit. I have been a director for 10 years now. I have had hits and misses over the years. The audience have given us much more than what we expected. I have always worked hard on every film that I have done. But with 'Geetha Govindam', everything fell in place.
It was in September 2016 that the project was locked. But casting alone took 3 months.
Am I a star director?
Krish garu has seen me since the days when I was an Assistant Director. He has always felt that I have it in me to become a star director. Whether I have become one by delivering a billion rupee movie is for the audience to decide.
A detailed script
People feel that the script is quite detailed. Nothing was done in a hurry. Thankfully, we had an actor like Vijay Deverakonda on board. The songs became a massive hit. Everybody was waiting for the film to release.
Leak of footage
I didn't know whether to feel sad, get angry or cry when footage got leaked before the film's release. It was just a few days before the film's release that it happened. My only hope was Allu Aravind garu. He called me up and told me that everything will be alright in a matter of 12 hours. That's when I calmed down.
That's when I met Bunny
Allu Arjun garu was always positive about the movie. I had told him the story a few days after the release of 'Sarrainodu'. He asked me to do it for Geetha Arts only. Many are asking me as to when my film with him is going to be. I am yet to narrate a story to him.
Producers never interfere
The producers at Geetha Arts never interfered with my work. Both in the case of 'Srirasthu Subhamasthu' and 'GG', they watched the film only after major portions were completed.
My next film
I have 4-5 stories ready with me. I am working on them and am yet to finalize. It's too early to talk about my next film at a time when 'GG' is still there in the theatres. All that I can say is that I have narrated a point to Bunny Vasu. I have known Bunny Vasu since the days of 'Parugu', whose AD I was. He treats me as a brother. I am thinking of doing a story that unfolds between a mentor and a student.
