'Liger' is facing backlash across social media platforms all of a sudden. Netizens from North India are hating on the action movie because of its prominent association with Karan Johar. KJo is disliked by many North Indians and Bollywood audience because he is seen as a strong promoter of nepotism and also for a few past political stances that made him look controversial.
#BoycottLigerMovie has been trending for the same reason. Some Netizens put out video clips where Vijay Deverakonda is heard saying that the campaign must be ignored. "Those who want to watch will watch our movie," he is seen saying. Obviously, the actor is not scared of the impact of the campaign even though 'Laal Singh Chaddha' and 'Raksha Bandhan' are believed to have been adversely impacted by similar negative campaigns.
Meanwhile, Vijay's fans have received Twitter's backing. #ISupportLiger has been floated on the micro-blogging portal. This is a morale booster after a dedicated emoji was released by Twitter for the movie's publicity.
Meanwhile, Liger's Hindi release has been put off by a day. The Puri Jagannadh directorial will hit the screens on Aug 26 and not Aug 25 in Hindi.
