Netizens see conspiracy after Vizag Gas Leak, TN, Nashik accidents

"Styrene Gas leak in Vizag, another gas leak in Chattisgarh, Boiler blast in NLC thermal power station in Tamil Nadu, and fire in a factory in Nashik. Is it just me or you also finding it fishy because industries may shift to India from China?" writes @TrulyMonica, a social media influencer, about Thursday's four industrial accidents. With four happening on a single day, not all are ready to see this as a mere coincidence.

As per conspiracy theorists on social media, there could be a conspiracy afoot to put a spanner in the wheel of India's nascent march towards attracting firms moving out of China in the wake of Coronavirus. It's not clear how they think China has executed the four industrial accidents.

All reports suggest that the Vizag Gas Leak happened because proper care was not taken to ensure the maintenance of temperature in the chemical tanks at the LG Polymers unit. Inquiries are on into the four units and it's most likely that they were all a mere coincidence.

"It's a tendency of some people to see a conspiracy in anything unusual. Most of the theories are a figment of imagination," a commentator says.
