Cricketer Shubman Gill on Wednesday became the 5th Indian to smash a double century in the first ODI between India and New Zealand. "Double hundred for Shubman Gill from 145 balls. What a talent, at the age 23, he is breaking records," Netizens said, celebrating his memorable innings.
Gill has become the fastest Indian to score 1000 ODI runs. He took just 19 innings. "3rd ODI hundred for Shubman Gill, he continues to dominate the ODI format, averaging more than 65. He is here to take over the legacy," tweeted Johns, a self-described failed cricketer when Gill stormed a ton on Wednesday.
"It has been so enjoyable to see Shubman Gill batting in these last few games. The promise was impossible to miss but he has now married consistency to it. A 1000 runs in 19 innings is exceptional," wrote Harsha Bhogle.
Former cricketer Yuvraj Singh tweeted, "200 in a one-day game!! At such a young age incredible, unbelievable!! A very proud day for me and Shubman's dad (sic)."
