Following her harsh backlash for her portrayal of Alamzeb in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar" on Netflix, Sharmin Segal is now under fire for allegedly disdaining her co-star Sanjeeda Shaikh.
Sanjeeda was questioned about her experience working with Bhansali in a recent Reddit interview that went very popular. He is just a perfectionist, she remarked. Being the best at whatever he does, he wants everything to be perfect. For his honest approach to the trade and sharp creative mind, he is highly regarded throughout the world. He will tell you if he doesn't like anything, and he will validate your performance in front of everyone if he does.”
But Segal retorted that "perfectionist" is a "really fundamental word" to characterize Bhansali, saying, "It's a word that someone who has never worked with him or been on his set would use. He likes pushing himself with new activities and adjusts to change really well.
Internet users retaliated against the "Malaal" actress, accusing her of demeaning Shaikh. This is your (Sharmin) third project, one user said. You lack nothing—no talent, no experience. Of all the directors, you are the least likely to characterize him appropriately. It is amazing how conceited Sanjeeda is to cut her off and then criticize her.”
“SLB never demanded anything from Sharmin, so of course he isn’t a perfectionist in her eyes,” said another. It makes sense that she gets taken aback when other people have had different experiences. In fact, the outsiders gave performances to remember.”
The tense exchanges underscore the mounting hostility and criticism leveled against Segal for her professional performance as well as her remarks regarding her co-star.
