Netflix is under fire for featuring the film Titanic on its streaming platform shortly after a tragic incident claimed the lives of five individuals during a submarine expedition.

A group of wealthy tourists, including OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush and billionaire explorer Hamish Harding, went on an underwater journey to explore the Titanic wreckage. However, their submersible suffered a catastrophic implosion, leading to the presumed instant loss of all onboard due to extreme water pressure.

Soon after the incident, Netflix made an announcement about the movie "Titanic", featuring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, returning to its streaming platform.

The timing of Netflix's announcement sparked criticism, with some accusing the streaming giant of capitalizing on the tragedy. However, a renowned magazine clarified that the licensing deal for Titanic was finalized months before the submarine incident occurred.

Meanwhile, recovery efforts by the US Coast Guard are ongoing to locate the missing bodies at the wreckage site.

In response to the incident, memes and jokes circulating online have trivialized the tragedy, suggesting that the victims, being wealthy, deserved their fate. However, it's important to remember that tragedy knows no boundaries, and empathy should prevail. Amidst these reactions, one cannot help but question the state of empathy and humanity in our society.
