Today is the birthday of Selvaraghavan who is one of the highly acclaimed directors of Tamil cinema and one of the few filmmakers who command a fan following among youngsters.

Selvaraghavan made his debut with the adult romance flick 'Thulluvadho Ilamai' as its writer then emerged as a director with 'Kadhal Kondein'. Both the films were super hits while the latter was also critically acclaimed as it was the first ever Tamil film to speak up about sexual abuse on children.

Selva followed it up '7G Rainbow Colony' which was again a critically acclaimed super hit and the director carved a niche for himself as a storyteller of realistic romance and relationships.

Not allowing himself to be stereotyped, the maverick director delivered a technically sound and emotionally strong gangster flick 'Pudupettai'.

His other experimental films include 'Aayirathil Oruvan' a well made fantasy flick which touched upon the rivalry between Chola and Pandiya kingdoms of Tamil Nadu and 'Irandam Ulagam'.

Effective portrayal of romance, human emotions, non rhetoric yet powerful dialogues and strong female characters would be the highlights that one could spot in every film directed by Selvaraghavan. His next will be the horror flick 'Nenjam Marappathillai' starring SJ Suryah. Nandita Shweta and Regina Cassandra. The film will be hitting the screens soon.
