Director Selvaraghavan's long delayed movie Nenjam Marapathillai starring SJ Suryah, Regina Cassandra and Nandita Swetha was released in theatres after lying in cans for more than 5 years and is running successfully.

This movie has SJ Suryah playing a character named Ramasamy/ Ramsay who's evil and is against God in the movie. It had been decoded by many that Ramsay character was a representation of Periyar.

Considering Periyar's name is Ramasamy as well, in a recent interview it was asked by an interviewer if he referred to Periyar, and Selvaraghavan is seen replying yes. However this turned controversial and now Selvaraghavan has tweeted clarifying that he had not understood that question in the interview and understood only after Netizens pointed out. Adding that he must have been careful, Selvaraghavan apologized for his mistake.
