A few hours after the NEET results were announced this morning, Tamilnadu saw yet another death as a student from Tirupur committed suicide by hanging herself at her house after failing to achieve the required score.
The student has been identified as S Ritusree from Tirupur’s Veliyangkadu. She finished her schooling in the Jaivabbai Government Higher Secondary school, where she secured a total score of 490/500 in her 12th board exams. However, she failed to score enough marks required to secure a medical seat through the NEET exam, leading her to take the drastic step. She hung herself in her room using a saree and was declared brought dead at the hospital. Her body has been sent for a post mortem.
The medical entrance, which follows the CBSE syllabus, puts the students of TN who follow the state board syllabus at a major disadvantage. Two medical aspirants, Anitha and Pradeepa, took their lives after they failed to clear the entrance exam in 2017 and 2018 respectively.
