A 20-year-old second year MBBS student from the Madras Medical College (MMC) and his 53-year-old father have been arrested in the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) scam.
The dean of the medical college had registered a complaint regarding the same in September 2019 and the student was arrested on Tuesday. Inspection of his NEET score card, photographs, and fingerprint proved that another person had written the exam in his stead. The impersonator wrote the exam in a test centre in Bihar. According to the Tamil Nadu Police's Crime Branch-Crime Investigation Department (CB-CID) wing, the father of the medical student had given Rs. 20 lakh to an agent to arrange the person to write the exam.
According to reports, both the father and son have been arrested and produced in Saidapet court, following which they were remanded in judicial custody.
