No this isn't the announcement of another biopic.....far be it one that has been made many times. This is a modern-day portrayal of the revolutionary martyr, played by actor Prashantt Guptha. Going from film to film with drastically different get-ups, the young actor will be seen in a pivotal role in the Naseer-Arshad starrer 'Irada'.
"In spirit, in one form or another, Bhagat Singh remains alive and always shall when it comes to the welfare of his nation", said Guptha. Whilst historically the cause was Indian independence, this time around the issue is the country's environment.
Irada is touted as Indian cinema's first eco-thriller dealing with the atrocity of water contamination caused by chemical factories. Prashantt's character is aptly named as he is playing a man-on-mission against the perpetrators of this cancer causing negligence. He claims the role came to him as divine intervention, as he was offered the film upon return from a spiritual visit to The Golden Temple and Jallianwala Bagh last year.
