In last few years, Neena Gupta has managed to become one of the most sought after actresses in Hindi cinema and these days, she is being offered a variety of amazing roles. For someone who has been active in the industry since the 80s, it took Neena quite a long time to finally get her due recognition. In a recent media interaction, the actress shared how the work culture in 80s used to be very toxic and recalled a particular incident when she was abused by a director.
Neena told Bollywood Bubble, "I was doing a film and I had a very small role in it. I just had 2-3 dialogues in a scene. I was in a larger group. On the day of the shoot, those dialogues were also cut. I had no role left."
She continued, "I went up to the director and said ‘I just had two lines and you’ve cut those as well.’ He gave me maa-behen ki gaali in front of everybody. Vinod Khanna was there, Juhi (Chawla), everybody and I just started crying because he abused me in front of everyone.”
Looking back at the incident, Neena laughs and she is thankful that things have improved in today's time. She said, "I don’t think this happens today, or maybe it happens but I am not in the same position. No one would give me maa-behen ki gaalis today.
