Actress Nayanthara has joined 'Sahodharikku Sasneham' an initiative of famous Malayalam magaizine Mathurbhumi, to support Chennai rain victims. The phrase 'Sahodharikku Sasneham' translates as 'To Sister with love' and as the name suggests the initiative is mainly intended to help the female victims of Chennai deluge.
Many houses have been devastated due to the severe rains and resultant floods that rocked Chennai and many people have lost everything including clothes. Mathrubhumi's initiative attempts to address this imminent problem which has its worst impact on females.
Kits that will include clothes will be sent to Chennai women and Nayanthara has accepted to sponsor 1,000 such kits each costing Rs.250/-.
Apart from this the 'Maya' actress has contributed her share for the truck loads of relief materials sent by Malayalam actors to Chennai. She has also apparently donated Rs.20 lakhs towards the immediate rain relief activities, but these two are yet to be confirmed officially.
Nayanthara has been busy with shooting schedules out of Chennai and she is still unable to visit the rain ravaged city which she considers as her second home.
