The emergence of OTT platforms has created a revolution in the world of entertainment by giving truly skilled actors and filmmakers a perfect place to shine. However, with the system getting bigger everyday and mainstream production houses getting attracted, OTTs are starting to become a star based industry just like Bollywood.
Recently, actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who often expresses his displeasure with the workings of OTT shows, slammed OTT actors who have started to act like big stars and pointed out how harmful they are for the craft. In a statement given to Firstpost, Nawaz said, "Yeh star system bade parde ko kha gaya (this star system killed the big screen). Now we have so-called stars on OTT claiming big money and throwing tantrums like Bollywood A-listers. They forget the content is king.”
The actor further added, "Woh zamana chala gaya. When stars ruled. Before this lockdown and the digital domination A-listers would release their films in 3,000 theatres across the country. People had no choice but to see them. Now they have unlimited choices.”
