Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui's filmography seems to have a perfect balance of critically acclaimed films and commercial masala movies. The actor is best known for his ability to play incredibly nuanced and grounded characters but every once in a while he goes all out and gives fans something to cheer for by starring in a crowd pleasing masala film. However, in a recent conversation with India Today, Nawaz revealed that he avoids watching commercial movies of all kind.
While explaining the rationale behind this mindset, Nawaz described how popularity of a movie can decieve viewers about its quality. He stated, "See, the thing is, when something is successful, everything is about that. For example, when a film is hit then the scripts that come to you are a reflection of that film. We are so quick to get influenced that we start talking in the same language as the recent hit film. We tend to get similar scripts, dialogues and attitudes, which is very weird for me."
The actor concluded by saying, "The good part about all this is that the audiences are coming to cinema halls, and what we are offering is worth looking out for. It can be through any film, but what you’re serving makes a lot of difference and is important. Having said that, I do such films, but I don't watch these kinds of films, which surprises me too. I am yet to figure out why it is like that with me.”
