First Indian woman to clinch gold at Asian Wrestling Championships!

In the recent times, the sport of wrestling has been gaining a lot of traction in India owing to a large number of successful wrestlers bagging international credits from the country, not to mention the media coverage including movies. However, India had no gold medal to its name in the Senior Asian Championships.
Well, meet the woman who broke the record and made history for us. Navjot Kaur has become the first Indian woman wrestler to win a gold inthe Senior Asian Championships held on Friday. Navjot participated in the 65 kg freestyle category and beat Japan’s Miya Imai (9-1) to bag the gold.
In addition to this, Rio Olympic medallist Sakshi Malik won a bronze in teh 62 kg freestyle, while Vinesh Phogat got a silver in the 50 kg freestyle category.
