Naveena Saraswathi Sabatham
About five decades ago AP Nagarajan brought to K-town an evergreen entertainer, narrating the fictional conflict between primal goddesses of Hindu mythology, titled 'Saraswathi Sabatham'. And now director Chandru has bringing to Kollywood, a movie with hip youngsters, with a title inspired by the yesteryear blockbuster. Starring Jai, Nivedha Thomas, VTV Ganesh, Sathyan and Manobala in prominent roles, 'Naveena Saraswathi Sabatham' is a fantasy comedy, which also draws inspiration from John Gray's 'Men are From Mars, Women are From Venus', to highlight the thoughts and beliefs of a man, which are in stark contradiction to that of a woman, which is the very underlying truth of gender differences. The film's plot is set to revolve around Chennai and Bangkok, while the team has gone far and beyond just these two locales, shooting in other exotic picturesque settings, including Malaysia's Redang Island. Four men set out to Bangkok for a bachelors' party and end up in knee depth trouble. The rest of the story explains how they get out of the mess, and is narrated in comic light. Sounds like 'Hangover'? Chandru assures it is not so. But why such a title to the film? Explaining a little more on the script, Chandru says that the yesteryear flick, 'Saraswathi Sabatham' plays an important role in this film; "It is a particular scene from 'Saraswathi Sabatham' that inspires the four stranded men to find a path out of their trouble" says the director, and hence the title 'Naveena Saraswathi Sabatham', or 'Saraswathi's Challenge Abridged'. Canning from locals to the international locales, Anand Jeeva has done a commendable job in capturing all scenes in the right light, aiding a complete movie experience. Produced by Kalpathi S Aghoram, Kalpathi S Ganesh and Kalpathi S Suresh, with TS Suresh on editing, 'Naveena Saraswathi Sabatham' is rolled out by AGS Entertainment. While newbie Prem Kumar has arrested the eager audience with his unique yet appealing chart toppers for the movie, the film's trailer has trended more than a lakh views since launch, and is one of the most spoken about films of recent times. With the young team on the floor on a clean entertainer, 'Naveena Saraswathi Sabatham' is a comic satire, and one of the three contenders this Friday in K-town. |
