What is it all about
Its about the stage character entering the real life of an actor, then sad and comic things happening.
The Story
Ayushman Khurana appears as a stage actor and director Ram Parmar. He specializes and is popular in the role of Raavan in Ramleela. On one night while going to meet his girl friend Chitra (Gaelyn Mendonca) he sees a desperate Mandar Lele (Kunaal Roy Kapoor) trying to commit suicide. He saves him. Kunal believes he is useless good for nothing. His girlfriend Nandini ( Pooja Salvi) has also deserted him. Ram builds Mandar's confidence in himself. He also gives him the role of Ram in Ramleela. When Mandar starts doing well, Ram goes in search of Mandar's girlfriend Nandini. She is a beauty, and she starts loving Ram. He also falls in love with her. But he is not happy with the development. His name is Ram and now he is acting like his Ramleela character of Raavan.
What to look for?
Rohan Sippy' presentation of Kalyugi Ramleela with its comic Ram and flirty Seetha and performances. Ayushman Khurana is excellent with the portrayal of his confused character. He is also good in the romantic scenes with his girlfriend Gaelyn Mendonca and also in hot scenes with Pooja Salvi.
Kunaal Roy Kapoor is superb with his natural portrayal of a simpleton lost in this complex world. Pooja Salvi passes muster compensating with her ravishing looks. Gaelyn Mendonca is okay. Evelyn Sharma makes her mark as Kalyugi Seetha. It is also nice to see the veteran Sulbha Arya in a cameo.
What not
You may be disappointed if you are looking for the usual Bollywood kind of entertainment.
Conclusion: it is a different kind of crazy script, with its own kind of humour and pathos which may go over the heads of common cinegoers.
It won't stand trial among avant garde films as well as it is inspired by the French film "Apres Vous."
