Amidst the controversy over President Ram Nath Kovind giving National Awards to only 11 awardees, the 65th National Film Awards ceremony was wrapped up today at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi.
Among the ones who received the awards directly from the President are Riddhi Sen (Best Actor), Jayaraj (Best Director), Sridevi (Best Actress, posthumously for 'Mom'). Most of the Awards were conferred by Smriti Irani, the I&B Minister.
"One of the reasons the National Film Awards are prestigious is because they are handed by the @rashtrapatibhvn - not a minister. This is a moment of a lifetime for Filmmakers: please don’t deprive them of their merit/glory," said director Rahul Dholakia.
