Today is the birthday of veteran actor, director and Nadigar Sangam President Nasser.

Nasser made his acting debut under the aegis of Iyakkunar Sigaram K.Balachander in the film 'Kalyana Agathigal' released in 1985 and got his first break by playing a police officer in Mani Ratnam's Kamal Haasan starrer classic 'Nayagan'.

Since then Nasser has acted in hundreds of films in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi languages. He ha portrayed some of the most menacing villain roles Tamil cinema has ever produced like the vengeful Mayan of 'Thevar Magan', the terrorist in 'Kurudhipunal', the womanizer-manager of 'Magalir Mattum' and the cunning entrepreneur of 'Anbe Sivam' to name a few. Yes, the most memorable villain performances of Nasser have mostly come in Kamal Haasan films and he has been a most favourite actor of the legendary star and also a regular cast member in his films. A Kamal film without Nasser has been a rarity and even a disappointment for fans.

Nasser was equally brilliant in portraying positive supporting roles with varied emotions and has also been successful in making comedy. His performance as the strict father in 'Emdan Magan', the army major in 'Roja', separated twin brothers in 'Jeans' will be remembered by Tamil movie buffs forever. His comical performance as a Muslim in disguise of dumb Brahmin cook in 'Avvai Shanmugi' was a blast.

Nasser carved a niche as writer and director with limited number of films. His debut directorial dealt with Koothu artists struggling hard with the fading traditional art form. 'Devathai' was another critically acclaimed film directed by Nasser that dealt with the an unusual concept of reincarnation.

As a person Nasser is one of the most respected figures in film industry due to his genuine care for cinema and society in general. He has now become the President of the Nadigar Sangam and is expected to spearhead a series of welfare measures that will rehabilitate the lives of theater as well as film artists living in poor conditions.

Indiaglitz wishes Nasser a Happy Birthday and pray the almighty for his long healthy life and success in his future endeavors.
