With four new films released for Ramzan, the theatres after a very bad month of lowest collections, finally witnesses good returns. Mammootty starrer ‘Nasraani’ is the front runner among the new releases, even though ‘Chocolate’ is also running too close for the top slot.

The top five Malayalam films of the week are:

1. ‘Nasraani’ - Mammootty becomes D K, a typical Kottayam Achayan in the film directed by Joshy. The film had the good initials all through the first ten days, as this Mammooty stereotype has always been his best. Even though the film is termed to portray Mammootty's weakest Achayan character, the initial itself may help the film to secure the top slot of the week.

2. ‘Chocolate’ - This is finally Prithviraj's safe landing in Malayalam, after half a decade of ups and downs. This campus story revolves around Prithviraj who is forced to study in a women's college. The sure shot hit formula unleashed by debutant Sachi-Sethu duo has been grace fully paced by Shafi, which will help it become an outright winner in a few weeks.

3. ‘Black Cat’ - Director Vinayan and Suresh Gopi join hands for the first time, but the results are not much to lap up. The film took very average opening, and is least expected to become a winner. But the overall pacing of this comedy action-thriller may help it to survive for quite a few weeks.

4. ‘Paradesi' - This has been not a very good effort from the director who delivered films like ‘Magreb’ and ‘Garshom’. And the result is readily shown in P.T Kunhimohammed's Pardesi's commercial run. The film which touched hold-over on the opening day itself, didn’t register a houseful show in the southern territory of the state, while in Malabar areas the film is faring better.

5. ‘Arabikatha’ - This Sreenivasan starrer directed by Lal Jose, still is a part in the major cities now celebrating more than hundred days on select release centres.
