Senior actor Naresh has filed a nomination to run for the position of the President of Movie Artists' Association. The elections for the year 2019-20 will be held soon.
"We at the MAA belong to a family. We don't desire for elections. Last year, I, Rajendra Prasad garu and Shivaji Raja held different positions. We have decided to occupy the positions in a rotation, year after year. In this term, I am running for the position as per the wish of the elders in the Association. I have never wanted any position in life," Naresh said.
He said that Jeevitha Rajasekhar, the yesteryear actress and wife of Dr. Rajasekhar, will run for General Secretary. "For the position of Vice-President, Rajasekhar will contest. Kota Shankar Rao garu will contest for Treasurer's position. The elections will be held on March 10," Naresh informed.
Rajasekhar said that he and his wife have agreed to run for the positions because they respect Naresh for his honesty. "We want to work with love. We think we will not be contested by any other candidate," the 'Kalki' actor added.
Jeevitha Rajasekhar said that she wanted to contest as an independent candidate if the need be. "MAA elections don't see an adequate representation of women. This year is different. MAA has to be in a respectable position always. We are seeing that the elections are going to be unanimous. When Naresh asked me to contest as General Secretary, I immediately agreed. I feel MAA hasn't been functioning properly. If our panel wins the elections, we will surely do good things," Jeevitha said.
