Character artist and comedienne Hema is running for the post of the President of the Movie Artists Association. On Saturday, she alleged that the incumbent, actor Naresh, doesn't want the elections to be held so that he can continue to hold the office. Sending out a letter to 200 members of the MAA, Hema said that she has embarked on an endeavour to collect signatures from the members to demand the conduct of elections on time.
"Some people are making efforts to prevent the MAA elections from taking place. They want Naresh garu to continue as the President. He has already spent Rs 3 Cr from MAA's funds during his term. Earlier, Rs 5 Cr was there. MAA's financial position has not improved under him. Nothing has been earned by MAA under him. Administrative expenses and pension amounts have been paid for from the MAA's own pool of funds. Before him, we used to pool funds from outside sources and pay for insurance and other things," Hema alleged, adding that if the remaining funds are spent on medical insurance this year, MAA would be broke next year.
She added that Naresh's term hasn't been useful at all. "Naresh garu doesn't want to demit the office. I want to convey the sentiments of many MAA members. They want the elections to be held as per the schedule.
