Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi broke the protocol to welcome Saudi Arabia's crown prince Mohammad Bin Salman, and this incident has evoked huge criticism from all corner. After his visit to Pakistan yesterday as a part of his South Asia tour, the prince had reached India today.
It has been said that 5 agreements including a military related agreement will be signed between India and Saudi Arabia, and that has been considered to be key agenda of Crown prince Mohammad Bin Salman's visit. With Salman arriving by 9:20 am, the flights services had been stopped for a while in Delhi airport, and he was given a grand welcome at the airport itself.
PM Modi broke the protocol and had directly reached the airport to receive him, and this is not the usual practice, as only the external affairs minister usually receives foreign ministers/ bureaucrats. Earlier Modi had did the same when former American president Obama had visited India. While a section has been praising Modi for breaking protocol for friendship and respect for Saudi Prince, on the other end, the act has been receiving sharp criticism, as Saudi Arabia has just signed deals with Pakistan, which houses the deadly Pulwama attack executors Jaish E Mohammad.
