Narasimha Review

The combination of two popular personalities - V Ravichandran in acting and Hamsalekha in music (the super hit pair of over 25 films from Prema Loka days in 1987) has not generated very good results. Secondly eleven years old subject of Telugu film 'Simha Raasi' is not rehashed with adequate knowledge by director, writer and actor S Mohan. The treatment to Leprosy in the film speaks about the knowledge of the director.

There is interesting first half - the subject is very contemporary as for as ruling of 'Narasimha' is concerned. The need for work bound politician signing a letter in the presence of the people to do all good is thought relevant even today. The voters collectively take such declaration and ask from politicians after election. It will be definitely people oriented society. Apart from this focus the film offers nothing. The simplicity and humanity of the protagonist is age old issue projected to build the image.

Narasimha (V Ravichandran) is born to leprosy hit mother gets the care of his father. His crying mother changes the route of living in Narasimha. She jumps to river and ends her life because of leprosy disease. From then on Narasimha decides to remain bachelor serving the people of his village. It is not easy to escape from the eyes of Narasimha doing bad things. Narasimha has made his village a model one. The person wants to be a politician should sign on the letter to do all the good things required for the people. Narasimha knows only to give and he does not aspire anything for him.

A few developments in the life of Narasimha - the sister, Ugrappa revenge and elders urging him to get married follows in the second half of the film.

It is a restrained performance from V Ravichandran. In the wild and mild roles V Ravichandran has tried his best. Nikesha Patel making debut in Kannada has a long way to go. She looks sweet and serene. Ravishanker as villain, Sadhu Kokila in comedy, Jayanthi as mother, Srinivasaprabhu as uncle and Srinivasamurthy as father have given superb support.

Hamsalekha song on today politics is very timely, simgim illa..for heroine is very pleasant and Dahaha Dahana..song is quite romantic. Suresh Byrasandra cinematography is adequate.

This is a film you have to watching going back twenty five years ago.
