Why the makers are insisting on age old scripts on the Kannada cinema audience is the first question that crops up in the mind after watching this good for nothing film.
The original Malayalam film was made in 1989 (Vadakkunokki Yanthram) the story of suspecting husband due to his inferiority complex is not the general disease among the men today. Its scale is not big too in social life. Even the percentage of suspecting husbands on wives do not go to this extreme. Suspecting wife in one or two occasions is enough in real life. But it is depressing and testing the patience of audience in `Nanjangud Nanjunda' because throughout the film husband is suspecting his wife because of his problem.
When such carbon copies are made for the changing time some incorporation is the need of the hour.
Director Srinivasaprasad has done a research for his first film `Prachanda Ravana' that bombed in the box office. He should have made a small survey on the contents of this film too. On the series of scenes that are painful how the audience of today would take it the exercise was needed.
The Tamil version of this film was made as `Dindigul Sarathy'. According to the nativity there are takers for such films but the chances are remote in Kannada set up.
Nanjunda (Ravishanker) from a farmer family is stunned when Parvathi (Hamsini) accepts him. After marriage Nanjunda becomes over conscious about his wife and for everything he develops suspicion. The trouble starts when his own brother calls up and this inferiority complex and someone would mesmerize his wife and elope is strongly in the mind of Nanjunda. At the same time he does not fall behind in keeping his wife happy. Parvathi educated well is upset for this kind of attitude of her husband. Nanjunda stays in the same colony hotel room leaving his wife alone in the house to know who all come and meet his wife. Tortured in life mentally Parvathi leaves the house to stay in her parent's house. Vishwas follows her after recouping in the hospital as a fresh person.
Ravishanker does not suit for this kind of roles. Comedy is his forte from the `Silli Lalli' television serial time and he is making wrong choices on big screen. His earlier film `Payana' was moderate because of the songs. His physique and look do not fit the hero slot. Hamsini looks beautiful only when she laughs. Thulasi Shivamani roars a lot while Sharat Lohitashva has given a controlled performance.
There is only one song tolerable from Ravichandra. Suresh camera work is not up to the mark.
There is nothing compelling to watch in `NN'.
Scoring 4/10
