Acclaimed actress Nandita Das, who has also been a filmmaker, is doing an important role in 'Virataparvam', starring Rana Daggubati and Sai Pallavi in the lead. Directed by Venu Udugula, the film has been shot in Hyderabad.

Nandita Das joined the sets a week ago. "Too much speculation! I am doing the film for the script, the director's vision and the role. Had no idea who I was replacing and how does it matter! In Hyderabad, starting to shoot today. Nervous about speaking Telugu! Wish me luck pls!" she had tweeted out on Day 1.

She is happy to be doing a Telugu film. "The whole atmosphere on the set has brought back the joy of being part of strong stories without having the responsibilities of being the director! It is a short but significant character, a role I relate to. The director and the crew were really professional and friendly, and it was an absolute delight working with Sai Pallavi - an amazing actor and person. I look forward to working with Rana Daggubati in the second schedule," she adds.

The period film has a naxalism backdrop.
