Dr Mohanbabu is known for making controversial statements boldly. He doesn’t mind whether someone get hurt by his words and he talks in a straight-forward manner without any hesitation.

Very recently, he participated in the Chittoor Nagaiah Smaraka Sabha held at Chennai.

Speaking on the occasion, the dialogue king said, 'These days, the real artistes who delivered great performance are not being awarded the Nandi awards. The Nandi Awards selection committee has been sold for money in giving awards. They are selecting artistes based on recommendations of some wealthy and influential people and politicians and the selection is not depended on the merit.'

Mohanbabu might have forgot that his 'mentor' Dasari Narayana Rao was recently selected as the best artiste for 'Mestri', for the year 2009 and of course his words are true as the committee failed to recognise Ram Charan, who gave a wonderful performance in a blockbuster like 'Magadheera' in the same year.
