Namukku Parkan

After a mediocre start with 'Nallavan', director Aji John is back with a family entertainer in the new 'Namukku Parkkan'.  Reflecting the realities of middle class Kerala family who is always dreaming of building independent houses for themselves rather than remaining in joint families, the movie is a nice, watchable entertainer with good production values.

'Namukku Parkan' has Anoop Menon as Rajeevan, a veterinary surgeon who is living a peaceful life with his wife Renuka (Meghna Raj) a school teacher and two school going daughters. Living in a rented house for quite some time, their one big dream is to build a house of their own amidst nature and loving animals. But the upright officer in Rajeevan cannot accept big bribes; though for his cause which remains beyond their means. Rajeevan has been served a notice to vacate the house on which they are on and are finding ways to switch over to a new home. But some unexpected incidents ask him to think in a different way, demanding him to forget the ideals for which he had lived for long.

Based on realistic journey of life, 'Namukku Parkkan' impresses with its  life like sketches of happenings with which the common men can  very well attach to.  The director Aji John is definitely in some good terrains this time, on which he is able to build on. The dialogues also appear genuine with not much cinematic gimmicks. The second half of the movie flows freely than the former and the finale with voice support of our most versatile actor Mohanlal is also adequate.

Anoop Menon impresses in the central role, which will help him to gain more fan following from the family audiences. Meghana Raj appears beautiful in trendy sarees in the songs and she plays to the demands of the role. Tini Tom and Nandhu have some fine roles to cherish while the rest of the cast play to their roles. Jayasuriya is also impressive in his good cameo as a police inspector.

The technical side is also first-rate with S B Prajith contributing some good visuals especially in the songs. The songs visualized in the mirror also stand apart with its technical finesse.

Altogether this 'Namukku Paarkan' is definitely a movie for an one time watch for families. With its short running time of two hours, no double entendres or silly jokes, this simple soft movie may not depress you for sure.
