After Aju Varghese, now actress Rima Kallingal has been accused of naming the assaulted actress in a Facebook post. An FIR has been filed against the actress and a case is registered under section 22 B (A) of the IPC, that forbids anyone from publishing or broadcasting the name of a sexual assault survivor. Doing so could attract an imprisonment of up to two years.
Based on a complaint filed by Abdulla Sayani, Rima revealed the actress' name in a Facebook post at 4.04 pm on July 13th. Her post goes as follows - "Dears, this is the statement of my friend and colleague" and ended by revealing the victim's name. In response to the criticisms faced, the actress, who is an active member of Women in Cinema Collective, later edited the victim's name from the post. Along with the complaint letter, Abdulla had reportedly submitted a printout of the original Facebook post made by the actress.
