Annadhata Sukhibava' will now have a unique resonance in Andhra Pradesh. Months ahead of the simultaneous Assembly and Lok Sabha polls in the State, Chandrababu Naidu's government has decided to add Rs 4,000 to the Centre's Rs 6,000 minimum income support to small and marginal farmers.
So, the relatively disadvantaged farmers will now receive Rs 10,000 per annum in cash transfer from central and state governments.
Agriculture minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy has said that more than 70 lakh farmers will benefit from this scheme. Due to Modi's scheme, about 54 lakh farmers owning less than 5 acres of land are already benefiting.
Those who are not eligible to get income transfer under the Centre's scheme will be wholly paid by the state government.
