Nagarjuna's shocking comments on movie critics

What do industry-wallahs think of reviews? While many stars share on social media positive reviews approvingly, what do they think about the relevance of critics' reviews to business? Do they think they impact business? Occasionally, a filmmaker or two talks about this. Recently, Dil Raju said that reviews don't affect, positively or negatively, market in the domestic market to any substantial extent. On the other hand, Raju opined, they affect the overseas performance of a film. He gave the example of 'Sarrainodu', which floundered in the US at at time when it was ruling the roost in India.

Akkineni Nagarjuna just said something to this effect. He opines that ratings don't matter. "Audience don't come to theatres going by reviews. Even if a film is rated low, the collections won't get affected", he says.

One notices that critics, when they rate big-ticket star movies low, invite ridicule from fans on social media once the movie mops up huge openings. This happened in the case of 'Sarrainodu' and 'Janatha Garage' in recent times.
