Akkineni Nagarjuna is looking forward to an eventful month. In this interview, he talks about his son's wedding, 'Raju Gari Gadhi-2', the plans at Annapurna International Film School and more.
My advice to Chay, Samantha:
October is going to be a very special month to me. Naga Chaitanya and Samantha are going to marry as per both Telugu and Christian traditions. So, my son will get to wear both 'pancha kattu' and a suit. (Smiles).
I would have preferred an Arya Samaj-style marriage, as the priests there explain the meaning of all the slokas that are recited during the marriage ritual. I still remember the summary of the slokas I and Amala were made to say during our wedding. I have advised my son and his fiance to understand the meaning of what they are going to recite during the occasion.
The Oct 6th wedding is not going to see the attendance of more than 100 members. Only our friends, relatives and well-wishers will be present.
Delay due to special effects:
I wanted to see the final copy of 'Raju Gari Gadhi-2' on Sept 1st itself. However, I could see it only on Oct 2nd. The delay of one month is due to the special effects work that had been carried out.
I am thoroughly satisfied with the output. I had made it clear that I will dub for the movie only if I am happy with the final output. And that's what I have done. Sometime, putting pressure alone can ensure a timely delivery of quality output. Time management matters a lot.
Vfx is crucial:
For a horror-thriller, Vfx is of paramount importance. Without good special effects, the audience won't derive a good experience. The technical aspects were taken care of by a team in Mumbai. But for Vfx, the film wouldn't have taken this longer. 'Hello!', for example, is not a headache as far as this is concerned.
No silly logic in here:
'Raju Gari Gadhi-2' can be watched with the entire family. You won't find silly ideas in here. Everything is logical. I am a mentalist who has a certain equation with the unseen spirit.
That's why I have done it:
The film derives inspiration from a Malayalam entertainer. I accepted the script because of the novelty. The characters and the dialogues are pretty refreshing. Ashwin, Vennela Kishore and Shakalaka Shankar have done very good comedy.
Samantha's character:
Samantha is playing an interesting character. You will surely like the discussion we have in the climax. It is a long one. Just as 'Manam' felt so good in the end, 'RGG-2' will feel that good. Rao Ramesh has played her father in the movie.
Good characters are hunting me:
Thankfully, nice stories are coming to me these days. 'Manam', 'Oopiri', 'Soggade Chinni Nayana' and now 'RGG-2'. If everything goes well, I will do a nice film with Nani. My character will be superb in it.
'Hello!' will be ready:
'Hello!' will be ready by Oct 15th. We have already informed the theatres that the movie will release on Dec 22nd. I am talking to Vikram Kumar twice every day to know the progress. Kalyani, director Priyadarshan's daughter, is debuting as the heroine. Priyadarshan made 'Nirnayam' with me and Amala. He is happy about Kalyani debuting in 'Hello!'.
Future plans with respect to film school:
We have earmarked separate funds to the scripting department at Annapurna International Film School. Our students are going to make movies from next year. We have recruited knowledgeable faculty members and guest lecturers. Amala is apportioning her time for these activities. She also wants to learn about the latest technologies, which is why she is doing a film or two. She is now doing a Bollywood film.
Teaming up with Chandoo Mondeti:
I will definitely do a film with Chandoo Mondeti. I have told him that he should do it with me as a director and not as a fan. He has a cop's story ready for me. I have also liked the story of 'Savyasachi'.
