Nagarjuna Gets Emotional as ‘Lenin’ Turns Hit: “I Prayed for Akhil’s Success at Tirupati”

The success of Akhil Akkineni’s latest film Lenin turned into an emotional celebration, with producer and actor Nagarjuna Akkineni revealing that he had prayed to Lord Venkateswara for his son’s success before the film’s release.

Speaking at the film’s success meet, Nagarjuna said he had not asked God for anything since the release of Annamayya, but made an exception after the Lenin event in Tirupati.

“After Annamayya, I never asked God for anything. But after our Tirupati event, when I had the darshan of Lord Venkateswara, I prayed for just one thing—that Akhil should get a hit. Later, I came to know that Bhagyashri Borse had prayed for the same. First, my gratitude goes to Lord Venkateswara,” Nagarjuna said.

The veteran actor also thanked Jr NTR for lending his voice to Lenin and praised the entire team for their dedication.

Nagarjuna recalled that working on Lenin reminded him of the memorable experiences he had while making classics like Shiva, Ninne Pelladatha, and Annamayya, where the entire team worked with complete passion and unity.

Speaking about Akhil’s journey, Nagarjuna said his son had always been full of energy and determination but admitted that the actor had gone through a difficult phase after facing repeated setbacks.

“He always worked hard for every film, but the results didn’t go his way. Akhil keeps everything to himself. I was very worried when he underwent hand surgery. However, after recovering, I saw a completely transformed person—calm, composed, and mentally stronger. That’s when I felt his good time had begun, and around the same time, Lenin started taking shape,” he said.

Nagarjuna expressed confidence that if Akhil continues with the same calm mindset, many more successes will follow in his career.

He also reserved special praise for director Murali Kishor Abburu, writers, editor Naveen Nooli, music director S. Thaman, producer Suryadevara Naga Vamsi, and the entire cast, including Bhagyashri Borse, Easwari Rao, Shivaji, Brahmaji, and Pramod, for their contributions to the film.

Concluding his speech, Nagarjuna thanked audiences, fans, and the media for supporting Lenin, saying the overwhelming response had brought immense joy to the Akkineni family.

Released on July 10, Lenin has opened to positive reviews and is enjoying a successful run at the box office, marking a much-needed breakthrough for Akhil Akkineni.
