Today is the ninetieth birthday of the immortal legend Sivaji Ganesan fondly known as the Nadigar Thilagam by millions of Tamils all over the world.  Much has been written about his unparalleled acting talent, punctuality and dedication to his craft.  What made him unique was that he stood tall among giants of his time.  Modern movie lovers are used to seeing their mass heroes mouthing punch dialogues, walk in slow motion and make exaggerated body languages to grab the attention of their fans.  But Sivaji did it by just playing his role and showing the true emotiaons of the character he played.

Most heroes have the best written roles for themselves and costatrs are reduced to being mere props.  But in film after film Sivaji Ganesan had to contend with the likes of extraordinary actors such as M.R. Radha, S.V. Ranga Rao, T.S. Balaiah, Nagesh, Thangavelu, Savithri, Padmini, Banumathi among others not to forget the heroes Gemini Ganesan, SSR, Muthuraman, Jaishankar and many more.  That he always dominated the best is the proof that he was the best ever.

As time goes by Sivaji is still the reference point for actors and still the peak that everyone wants to scale but find it impossible.  There are fans of stars and actors but the actors and stars will always be the fans of the Simma Kuralon for many many years to come. We take great pride in remembering the God of Acting and the Emperor of Style Sivaji Ganesan.
