A day after actor and former Nadigar Sangam President R.Sarathkumar questioned its silence over the beep song issue, the Nadigar Sangam's new administration has condemned the song attributed to actor Silambarsan and music director Anirudh Ravichander.
A public statement from veteran actor and Nadigar Sangam President Nasser condemns the song for its indecent lyrics that demean women.
"We are not sure whether the controversial beep song was released officially or by miscreants. The song which was allegedly composed by Anirudh Ravichander and written and sung by Silambarasan uses words that have been beeped leaving its meaning to the audience's guessing. These words are highly indecent and demean women, which needs to be condmned without a second thought.
When an expression of an artist reaches people and evokes negative views, the artist becomes duty-bound to tender an apology and express regret as a mark of respect to people. We were waiting for that to happen.
Moreover, we were busy in rain relief related work and we did not want to immediately take a stand in this issue as we wanted to avoid criticism that we are acting against Simbu, since he was vehemently opposing us during the elections to the administrative posts of Nadigar Sangam.
We were planning to discuss about this in the Executive meeting scheduled to happen on December 26th but now we are issuing this statement considering the urgency of the matter.
Now the issue has reached the people and Court. We wish that the two artists should be free from the charges against them and continue their artistic work.
In this era of technological advancements, the Beep song has emerged as a lesson to every artist. We urge every artist to be cautious and vigilant to avoid such embarrassing situations in future.
