Sarathkumar and Radharavi to face Police action

The South Indian Artists Association (Nadigar Sangam) past president R.Sarathkumar, General Secretary Radharavi and Treasurer will soon have to face cases against them under the Economic offences wing of the Police department for their failure to submit the books of accounts of the Sangam for the year 2014-15, and the Charitable Trust owned of the Sangam for the period of 2013-14 and 2014-15. .

A resolution to this effect was passed with the unanimous consent of the members in the Executive Council meeting held in the old headquarters of the Sangam on Sunday.

Earlier Sarathkumar had promised to submit the accounts books carrying the details of expenses and income for the said period within 15 days after losing his post in the elections held on October 18, 2015.However in a Press meet held in December, Karthi, the new Treasurer of the Sangam had alleged that Sarathkumar and the past officials failed to submit the books of accounts as promised and the Sangam would initiate action if they failed to do so within the first fortnight of January.

Addressing media persons after the Executive council meet on Sunday. the Nadigar Sangam General Secretary Vishal alleged that the previous administration had spent Rs.3.5 crores in the past couple of years and the accounts of expenses for the same were yet to be submitted.

The Council passed other resolutions that include the one to cancel all the agreements entered between the Nadigar Sangam Charitable Trust and the SPI Cinemas during the tenure of the previous administartion to construct new building at the Nadigar Sangam land.

Karthi also submitted the books of income and expenses for December 2015 and it was approved in the meeting.

This was the first Executive committee meeting of the Sangam after the year 2011. It was organised on Sunday January 17, to coincide with the 99th Birth Anniversary of Makkal Thilagam MGR, the star who was instrumental in the creation of the Nadigar Sangam. .
