  • IndiaGlitz, [Tuesday,September 08 2015]

After legal battles, dramatic press conferences and mudslinging among the groups of actors over the management of affairs of the South Indian Artistes Association (Nadigar Sangam), the date of election for its administrative posts has been finally announced.

Justice Padmanabhan, who has been appointed as the presiding officer of the election by the Madras High Court has announced that the Nadigar Sangam Election would be conducted on the 18th day of October 2015 in Saint Ebbas Girls Higher Secondary School, Mylapore, Chennai. The date falls on a Sunday as the rebel group of actors have been demanding to conduct the elections on a holiday. The polling of votes would begin from 7 am and go on till 5 pm. 3,139 members of the Sangam that include cinema and drama artistes have their voting rights approved after the final enumeration.

This will be the most severely fought elections in the history of Nadigar Sangam as the competition between the present office bearers and the rebel group of actors is running high. It is expected that Actor Vishal who spearheads the rebel group of actors and its activities will be contesting for the post of General Secretary of the Sangam against senior actor Radharavi while veteran actor Nasser would be pitted against the incumbent President R.Sarathkumar.
