Nadigar Sangam condemns FEFSI's involvement in issues related to actor Dhanush

The South Indian Artistes' Association (Nadigar Sangam) has expressed strong disapproval over a recent statement made by FEFSI (Film Employees Federation of South India), calling for a committee to address issues related to actor Dhanush. The unexpected move has sparked concern within the Tamil film industry, with Nadigar Sangam issuing a formal condemnation. In the statement, Nadigar Sangam clarified the situation by saying:

Considering the overall restructuring of the Tamil film industry, multiple rounds of discussions have been held between the Tamil Film Producers' Council and the South Indian Artistes' Association. In these talks, the welfare of all film industry workers, including those associated with FEFSI, was taken into account. Following these discussions, Nadigar Sangam submitted 37 recommendations for a new understanding to the Producers' Council.

The issue surrounding our member, Mr. Dhanush, has already been resolved due to the efforts of Nadigar Sangam, and the actor’s film shoots are currently proceeding smoothly.

In this context, it came as a shock to us when, on September 17, 2024, FEFSI suddenly called for a committee to investigate matters related to Mr. Dhanush, despite no ongoing discussions or issues concerning him.

At a time when any disputes between producers and actors are being handled amicably, it is concerning and highly condemnable that FEFSI has unnecessarily intervened and made such baseless claims.

We strongly condemn FEFSI's attempts to portray itself as a central authority capable of resolving all issues within the film industry. Both producers and actors have the experience and ability to resolve any issues that may arise through mutual dialogue.

Nadigar Sangam has always worked with the welfare of all industry workers in mind, including those under FEFSI. As an example, during challenging times such as the COVID-19 pandemic, our members extended significant help to FEFSI workers, ensuring their welfare, which FEFSI cannot deny.

We urge FEFSI to refrain from interfering in the affairs of other associations and focus instead on the welfare of its members. Such an approach would be beneficial for all.

Additionally, we call upon the Tamil Film Producers' Council to condemn FEFSI’s overreaching actions, which threaten to disturb the peace and harmony that has long prevailed in the industry.

The statement from Nadigar Sangam emphasizes the importance of maintaining unity and resolving disputes within the appropriate channels, urging all parties to act responsibly for the benefit of the industry.
