Naan Avanillai
Setting a new trend in Tamil screen is Naan Avanillai. Directed by Selvah and produced by Jabak, the movie is a remake of yesteryear classic titled the same featuring five heroines.
The original version was the brainchild of veteran director K Balachander which starred Gemini Ganesan in the lead role. Released in 1976, the movie was a blockbuster.
The remake version features Jeevan donning the lead role accompanied by five heroines - Sneha, Namitha, Malavika, Keerthi Chawla and Jyothirmayi.
Says Selvah, said, "It is the first time in Tamil film history that the prominent heroines are bunched together. We chose to remake veteran director K Balachander's masterpiece since the movie's theme is relevant even today, Of course, some minor changes in the script warranted to suit the contemporary audience."
Sneha is cast as a medico, Namitha is an entrepreneur, Malavika is a model, Keerthi is God-fearing and Jyothirmayi is the orthodox Keralaite.
As if reading the thoughts, Selvah said that he did not face the director's dilemma of handling five heroines in one go. "They all stuck to their task in a professional way. It was much simpler than what I had expected."
Thrilled to work with five heroines is Jeevan. "Working with them was a learning experience and I made full use of it", he said. Produced by Jabak, the movie is planned for an April release. Vijay Anthony has scored the music while cinematography is by U K Senthil Kumar.
Sneha, "It was a huge responsibility on our shoulders. To match up to the performance in the original was no easy task. We have no attitude problem working together. All of us share an equal footage."
Echoing the same were Malavika and Namitha. "Our roles have shaped up well. It would be a movie to cherish in our career."
A couple of songs were shot abroad.
