Naa Alludu

Thursday, January 1, 1970 • Telugu Comments

Mother-in-law pitted against an honest man is a story that never tires Telugu filmmakers.

In fact next to college love stories and rowdy-dadha stories, mother-in-law and son-in-law capers are the most seen. A righteous son-in-law taking on a shrewish and scheming mother-in-law readily lends itself to many interesting possibilities.

But in B Gopal's NTR Jr starrer Naa Alludu it is said to be taken some extreme possibilities. One of them being the son-in-law making sexual insinuations at the mother-in-law. No he doesn't covet at her; he just makes those silly comments under the guise of humor and comedy.

But the director Gopal argument could be if the aunt is as ravishing and glamorous as Ramya Krishnan who wouldn't.

To cut a long story short, the Changala Venkat Rao-produced Naa Alludu is quite simply a fun-filled mad potboiler of in-law vs in-law (Mom and son, that is).

Some of the dialogues between Ramya and NTR Jr that have been carefully leaked by the unit hands are plain vulgar. But if the Censors do allow them to pass, they will be lapped up under the guise of mass entertainment. For NTR Jr, this is the second film taking on the aunt (in the previous one Nagma played the Mother-in-law).

Apart from taking on the aunt, NTR Jr also gets to do his energetic and splendid dances with Shriya and Genelia. The two heroines, who are reedy and pencil thin, will strike a counterpoint to the rotundity of NTR Jr. But the young actor seems to have reduced his girth for the film. The songs and dances are on typical lines and his fans can have a roaring time.

Producer Changala Venkat Rao said he always admired the NTR family. Coming after a gap of 5 years (after Samarasimha Reddy), this new movie with NTR has been made with a heavy budget. The movie will be releasing for Shankranti. B Gopal had earlier directed NTR in Allari.

NTR Jr, whose Sambha was a middling hit, would be hoping that Naa Alludu goes on to be a better grosser.
